McDonald’s Money is an original oil painting by Cleveland-based contemporary artist Stina Aleah. Part of The Childhood I Carried series, this figurative painting explores Black childhood, nostalgia, family, memory, and the ordinary experiences that become some of our most vivid memories of growing up.
“Do you have McDonald’s money?” was more than a question. For many of us, it was practically a childhood phrase of its own. It brings back the feeling of asking for something while already having a pretty good idea what the answer might be.
Through McDonald’s Money, Stina Aleah revisits that familiar moment through the perspective of adulthood. What once felt like disappointment becomes funny, tender, and deeply nostalgic. The painting reflects the way seemingly insignificant moments can become part of the language of a family and, eventually, part of the stories we carry with us.
Part of The Childhood I Carried, the work celebrates the ordinary moments of childhood that shaped us: the things our parents said, the things we wanted, the things we couldn’t always have, and the humor and love we can recognize in those memories years later.

Each piece is created or printed specifically for your order, and returns are not accepted unless your item arrives damaged.

We will review your claim and may offer a replacement, store credit, or refund depending on the situation. Claims made after 7 days may not be eligible for resolution.
Lost or Missing Packages
If your package is marked as delivered but you haven’t received it, please contact your local carrier first. If the issue isn’t resolved, email us at info@stinaaleah.com, and we’ll do our best to assist.

Shipping Rates & Delivery

Packaging
All artwork is packaged securely to protect it in transit. Prints are typically shipped flat in rigid mailers or rolled in protective tubes, while original artworks are packed in reinforced boxes or crates, depending on size.
